Among Waves

Available now, a new album from Orca Life, featuring artwork by me:

In addition to the album artwork, I also filmed and directed a music video for a track off the album, "Fall In":

Both the album artwork and video are made from a series of video experiments I shot, applied over photographs/video shot by Chris Roberts (Orca Life himself) and edited together. Since Photoshop and After Effects have the same layer mode options, I tried to treat the video exactly as I did the artwork, which for an experiment I think turned out pretty well.

Also featured on the J-Card interior is the "Jesse" logo that I created for Orca Life.

Watch the video, listen to and buy the album. Enjoy.

Also, this is the first time I've gotten to post some of my scenes from Ugly Americans Season 1! I'm still at Augenblick, but I can't post the unaired stuff for obvious reasons.

Captain Video

Not too many updates lately as I'm really weighed down by my final film for Animation right now, as well as my other final projects. But here's one final that's done already, for Digital Compositing:

It's an intro to the classic television program, Captain Video. I didn't like the idea of the project at first, but I had some fun with it. All footage used (minus the shocked maid) is from archive.org, title cards were draw in Flash, and everything way put together in After Effects.

Office Place

Was given another pointless 3D After Effects assignment. So I edited some corporate headshots in Photoshop and made a retarded Tim and Eric short. Enjoy. [If it won't play, click here]

Mike's Judges presents Office Place is releasing this solstice on the Cinco Video Cube, and stars Billy Crystals, Tom Cruises, Woopsi Goldberg, and John Depp as Tom Burtz.

Weekly Weirdness

Got a lot done today, have a full 12 seconds of my film done, with audio, and it looks decent [though as of typing this I realized I forgot to do something... but that's why it's a test version anyways]. But as for things I will show you:

Was given an image sequence, and then I used After Effect/Flash to animate in it and added sound. If it looks like crap, visually, it's because I added noise/compression to the animation to fit with the compression/interlacing on the video.

And then the one part of the video made me make this (in Photoshop):

Yup. It's better not to ask.

Hairball Redux

Remember when I basically said I didn't really like that "Hairball" animation? Well, I went and redid it, completely:

Not only is the look/premise different. But I even went ahead and added sound and special effects in After Effects. I like this much much more.

Introducing the latest product from Cinco:

Created by Matt Marblo and myself for Tim and Eric's Season Cinco promo contest.

Hopefully we win.

Cubed.

A short After Effects/Flash animation. Enjoy?

Been awhile since I've properly animated, I'm quite shit.

Mindforks and Surprise Barbarians

First off, new After Effects video, experimenting with 3D plane cameras... it's... interesting?

Looking back, "T.V. Casualty" may have been a better song choice, but "Spinal Remains" has just been stuck in my head lately...

Also, my friend Matt Marblo informed me that some random Tumblr page posted our Conan O'Barian collab picture that we made over the summer. Granted the post was from November, and we just found it now, but regardless, it's kind of neat that someone random person posted our work, and even gave us credit.

Unnatural History

Not sure I like the title, but after a week's worth of crashing and errors in Flash and After Effects I can finally show you a short film I've been making during the past few weeks...

It was filmed in segments at the Museum of Natural History, then brought into After Effects/Flash as a sequence, and animated over. The audio was also recorded separately by myself. Enjoy.

P.S. It's not in widescreen because I didn't use a real video camera to shoot this, otherwise I would've gladly done this at a higher resolution in widescreen to match my other videos.

Long day, here's some work...

First off, this image came from a doodle I made during Anatomy today... of Guillermo Del Toro and his hilarious face and arms. Which I then scanned, put into Flash, and then added some texture in Photoshop:

This next one, was a lip-sync exercise for Digital Compositing. Assignment was to use a given audio clip (this one is from Blazing Saddles), and with Illustrator, make still drawing, with eyes and mouth parts to sync up in After Effects. Essentially how most crappy TV animation is done these days:

That was my day. Enjoy.

After Effects and YouTube

First things first, I just made a new YouTube channel, this way I don't have to 1) use my old YouTube account and 2) not use Photobucket to host videos like I had been doing. And now to show off what I've been doing in Digital Compositing:

This one I just completed today, it's a green screen exercise and was really fun to do:

These other two are from earlier this semester. The first being a sound sync assignment, the other being a background pan/walk cycle loop:

Some might say I have problems... ;)
